My Birthday Wish
-by Cap Caplan
I’m celebrating my birthday this weekend, and, aside from a grandchild, I can’t think of anything I’d like more than to see my son in the U.S. Senate.
My age is not (yet!) an issue in this campaign, but I can tell you this: I was 24 when Andrew and his twin sister Hilary were born.
Will you invest $24, $240 or even $2,400 in honor of my birthday and my soon-to-be-senator son?
I couldn’t be prouder of Andrew. He has dedicated his life -- as my parents and I did -- to helping people in need. (Click here to learn more about Andrew’s legacy of service.)
The spirit of tikkun olam, or healing the world, guided Andrew’s work from the Southern Poverty Law Center to the rural villages of Central America to the Colorado House of Representatives. He poured his heart into the fight against hunger and homelessness, mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, domestic violence and child abuse, among countless other causes. I’d support him even if he weren’t my son!
Help more Coloradans learn about Andrew by contributing $24, $240 or even $2,400 today!
Andrew has won top honors from just about every major organization in Colorado. As a former social worker, I’m especially proud of the recognition he earned as Legislator of the Year from the Colorado chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. But it was the Excellence in State Legislative Leadership Award, the nation’s highest legislative honor, that put it best: Andrew “embodies the highest principles of leadership -- integrity, compassion, vision and courage.”
Those aren’t just the qualities every parent hopes to instill in his or her child. They’re the qualities we need in our elected officials.
Please grant my birthday wish with your contribution of $24, $240 or even $2,400.
Sincerely,
Cap Caplan, aka Andrew’s Mom
