Progressive Champion

Ed Schultz calls him a "progressive champion."  In his national television show, Schultz said Andrew Romanoff may be the "best hope Democrats have to keep the majority in the Senate."

Jim Hightower, noted author and commentator, agrees.  In a podcast from Progressive Democrats of America, he recognized Andrew's strong record of leadership.

Such praise comes as no surprise.  Andrew Romanoff has championed progressive causes throughout his career.  He stood up to the insurance lobby, the drug companies, and financial predators not because it was politically expedient, but because it was the right thing to do.  And he is the only candidate in this race who refuses to accept corporate cash.

Coloradans know that you don't get something for nothing.  When JPMorgan Chase, Wal-Mart, PhARMA, Pfizer, UnitedHealth Group, Wellpoint, Visa, the American Bankers Association, the Mortgage Bankers Association and other corporate interest groups bankroll a candidate, they expect to get something in return.  (See a list of donors).  They are buying access and influence -- at the expense of the American people.

We don't have many chances to change Washington's pay-to-play culture, but we have one now.  Your support for Andrew at the caucuses tomorrow night will strike a blow for people against the abusive power of big corporate cash.  And the good news, as every recent poll confirms, is this: Andrew has the best chance to keep this seat Democratic in November.

Sincerely,

Paul Weissmann
House Majority Leader
