Thank You
Thank you.
On Tuesday night, more than 22,000 Democrats gathered in precinct caucuses throughout the state. Corporate cash may be drowning democracy in Washington, D.C., but the message we delivered here was loud and clear: Colorado is not for sale.

We scored a decisive victory on Tuesday, despite being outspent by a margin of 10-1. We stared down a national political machine -- and we won. We faced a flood of out-of-state propaganda -- literally hundreds of thousands of mailings and robocalls -- and we won. Even a last-minute wave of push polls and falsehood-filled fliers did not fool the voters of Colorado.
Scrambling to explain an expensive and embarrassing defeat, our opponent's campaign manager dismissed the Democratic base -- or perhaps Colorado itself -- as my "home turf." I'll take that as a compliment.
The other team's turf was nothing if not well fertilized. The insurance lobby, the pharmaceutical industry, the big Wall Street banks and 200 other special-interest groups have poured roughly $1 million into our opponent's coffers. With backers like that, it's no wonder Congress won't deliver the reforms we need in health care or the financial system.
Fortunately, the special interests proved to be no match for the power of people. We won this round by nearly 10 points. Click here to make sure we win the next round, too.
The people of Colorado are embracing our campaign. They value leadership and integrity, and they will reward our record of results:
- We worked together to win Democratic control of the State House, for the first time in 30 years.
- We worked together to enact Referendum C, the most significant economic recovery plan in a generation.
- We worked together to pass Building Excellent Schools Today, the largest investment in school construction in state history.
Now we must work together to bring real reform to Washington. That means investing in education and job training, instead of leveraging our economy on financial gimmicks and foreign debt. It means cutting the cost of health care and bringing quality coverage within reach of every American, so that medical expenses no longer eat up our savings, force us into bankruptcy, or send us to an early grave. And it means making our country and our neighbors less dependent on fossil fuel, so that we no longer have to spill our blood or spoil our skies in order to power our planet.
Ed Schultz says I may be "the best hope Democrats have to keep the majority in the Senate." Every recent poll agrees: I do significantly better than my Democratic opponent against each of the leading Republicans. In the most recent poll, I beat Jane Norton by five points, Ken Buck by eight points, and Tom Wiens by 11. And we've been gaining ground every month.
But I need your help to keep our momentum going. Outside interest groups and donors account for nearly 60 percent of the opposition's money. More than 90 percent of our contributions, in contrast, come from people who can actually cast a ballot in Colorado.
Because we're up against so much out-of-state money, we need to redouble our fundraising efforts. Please click here to contribute today.
Our victory on Tuesday sent a wake-up call to Washington's powerbrokers and party bosses. Let's make sure they can hear us!
Sincerely,
