AURORA, CO—Senate candidate Andrew Romanoff today announced endorsements from more than 250 state and local leaders, including current and former legislators, county commissioners, mayors, city councilors, and school board members. The endorsements demonstrate Romanoff’s deep support throughout Colorado and deliver powerful momentum to his bid for the Democratic nomination.
Romanoff, who served as the speaker of the Colorado House and as the president and CEO of Mental Health Colorado, said he was grateful for the outpouring of support.
“This is what a grassroots campaign looks like,” Romanoff said. “Thousands of Coloradans are joining our call to repair our democracy and restore the American Dream.”
“Andrew is a true leader in our state,” said former Congressman John Salazar. “A common-sense problem solver, Andrew knows how to deliver results. He’s always stood up for Colorado’s farmers, and he knows how important agriculture is to our state’s economy. I’ve seen firsthand Andrew’s success expanding economic opportunity in Colorado’s agriculture sector and his fierce commitment to the people of Colorado. It’s clear that Andrew is the best candidate to take on Cory Gardner.”
“I support Andrew Romanoff because he cares about our diverse communities, understands the legislative process, and has the experience and commitment to fight for what we need in the U.S. Senate,” said former State Senator Polly Baca, the first Latina to serve in the Colorado Senate.
“Authentic and transformative leadership is hard to find and much needed in D.C. and Colorado, and Andrew is the best candidate to make the difference we desperately need,” said former Senate President Peter Groff. “Andrew is the best choice in 2020 to beat Senator Gardner and go to D.C. and make the Senate functional again.”
“I’ve known Andrew Romanoff for longer than I can remember,” said former State Senator Abel Tapia. “When he was Speaker, we did so many great things for the state of Colorado and particularly in Southern Colorado. He’s the perfect person to represent us in Congress.”
“Andrew is a true statesman,” said former State Representative Judy Solano. “He never loses vision of what his Democratic values are. He’s tenacious in his style. He’s compassionate, and he’s a visionary. He leads by example. Whatever he says he’s going to do, he’s going to put his best effort forward to get it done.”
“I can think of no one I’ve met in my 35 years of participation in Colorado Democratic politics who is more knowledgeable, compassionate, and creative than Andrew Romanoff,” said State Senator Lois Court. “I am wholeheartedly supporting him to be our next U.S. senator.”
“In the Senate, Andrew Romanoff will fight for our communities,” said Summit County Commissioner Karn Stiegelmeier. “He’s a dedicated advocate for protecting our environment and public lands. I know that Andrew will take on the corporate special interests and fight for all Coloradans.”
“We need Andrew’s courage in the United States Senate,” said former State Senator Pat Pascoe.
“Andrew understands the issues facing our community,” said former State Senator Michael Merrifield. “Andrew passed legislation to increase funding for our public schools and has been a leader in making sure all of Colorado’s students have the high-quality education they deserve. I know I can trust Andrew to stand up for our public school teachers.”
“Andrew Romanoff is exactly who we need in the Senate during these trying times,” said former Denver Public Schools Board of Education Member Jeannie Kaplan. “He is a leader and will be a Senator for all of us.”
“Throughout his career, Andrew Romanoff has always stood up for the communities in Southern Colorado,” said Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk Taylor. “From investing in our public schools to ensuring that mental health services are available to all who need them, Andrew understands what is needed to keep people out of the criminal justice system while never losing sight of public safety concerns. I know he will always support federal programs that assist local law enforcement, and he will bring extraordinary leadership to the Senate.”
“Andrew Romanoff has worked tirelessly and effectively to expand access to affordable health care, invest in public education, and improve economic opportunity for all Coloradans,” said Larimer County Commissioner John Kefalas. “His commitment is to the people of Colorado, and I know he will be a great senator for our state because he engages the community to advance public policy that makes a meaningful difference in people’s well-being.”
“Andrew can bring people together,” said Glenwood Springs City Council Member Rick Voorhees. “He’s a tireless worker who truly listens before acting,”
“Andrew knows how to work with all parties and get things done,” said former Montrose County Commissioner Bill Patterson.
